Top 10 M&M Flavors

Most would have to agree that M&M’s are one of the best candies. There are so many different flavors of M&M’s available now it is difficult to choose. An interesting fact about M&M’s is that in 1950, a black “M” was imprinted on the candies giving them a unique trademark. It was changed to white in 1954.  I compiled a list of the top 10 M&M flavors, bear in mind this list is just based on my personal opinion so sorry if your favorite is not on the list!

#10 Easter Sundae M&M’s

I have just tried these for the first time. Again this is a flavor only available at Walmart. The candies are milk chocolate just inside the shell and then the inner is white, not white chocolate but a mystery flavor. Kind of tastes like the hot chocolate flavor that came out recently.

#9 Red Velvet M&M’s

These came out as an exclusive Walmart special for Valentines, they came out at the same time as the birthday cake flavor came out. If you love red velvet then you will love these. The flavor of red velvet is a light chocolate cake flavor with a tang to it. The M&M’s are inconsistent sizes and come in two shades of red and white in the packet.

#8 White Chocolate Candy Corn M&M’s

This flavor only comes out at Halloween. These make a great change from the classic M&M’s as not only do they have a candy corn flavor, OK so they don’t taste exactly like candy corn but there is a hint of that flavor, and they also have a white chocolate. An added bonus of these is they look great in a dish at Halloween.

#7 Peanut Butter M&M’s

Peanut butter candy of all kinds is so popular and delicious, these M&M’s are no exception, they are really good. In 1991, Peanut Butter M&M’s were released. These candies have peanut butter inside the chocolate center and the same color scheme as the other brands. As of at least 2013, the size of the peanut butter M&M has become slightly smaller.

#6 Birthday Cake M&M’s

This flavor was released in 2014. The description is rather vague: “Delicious milk chocolate infused with birthday cake flavor creates an exciting new treat worth celebrating”. The overall flavor does resemble eating a slice of chocolate cake and I’m good with that. This flavor is still in stores, even though it has not been announced as a permanent flavor. After all this time, seems pretty permanent to me.

#5 Dark Chocolate M&M’s

dark
Not everyone likes the taste of dark chocolate as it can have a bitter taste. Dark chocolate is made by adding fat and sugar cocoa and made with little or no milk. These M&M’s are so good as you have the slightly bitter dark chocolate inner with the little sweeter crunch of the shell.

#4 Mint Chocolate M&M’s

These were first introduced as a ‘holiday’ special item but they became popular enough that you can now buy these all year round. I enjoy the subtle mint flavor in the chocolate. The colors of the M&M’s are not the usual bright colored one but two green shades and a white.

#3 Peanut M&M’s

peanut
Who doesn’t love peanuts and chocolate, they are the perfect combination. Peanut M&M’s were introduced in 1954, but first appeared only in the color tan. They were debuted at the same time as the tagline “Melts in your mouth, not in your hand.” Peanut M&M’s are just that, an M&M with a peanut in the center.

#2 Crispy M&M’s

crispy
I love to crunch down on these delicious M&M’s. They are larger than a normal M&M with a inner of crispy wafer. Crispy M&M’s were discontinued for a decade but due to the constant popular demand for their return, they become available again in Jan. 2015.

#1 Milk Chocolate M&M’s

Even though there are such a large variety of flavors to me none beats the original milk chocolate flavor. Milk chocolate accounts for 85% of all solid chocolate eaten yearly in the US.
