Today is National One-Hit Wonders day! In order to celebrate this day I thought I would make a new list of one-hit wonders. The last list I did was in 2012 with the most recent song on there from 2005. So today’s list is from 2005 to 2019. Thanks, hope you enjoy!

#10 Capital Cities – Safe and Sound
“Safe and Sound” is a song by American indie pop duo Capital Cities, written and produced by band members Ryan Merchant and Sebu Simonian. The song was released as a single on January 6, 2011. “Safe and Sound” became the duo’s breakout hit, peaking at number eight on the United States Billboard Hot 100 and achieving commercial success in several other territories. Although they did have two more songs that featured on the charts but on coming in at #50 and #29.
#9 Yolanda Be Cool – We Speak No Americano
“We No Speak Americano” is a song by Australian band Yolanda Be Cool and producer DCUP. It was released on the independent Australian label Sweat It Out on 27 February 2010. It became a hit in Europe, Australia, and Latin America as well as a top 40 hit in the U.S. and Canada. It also won the 2010 ARIA award for “Best Dance Release.” The song has sold over 1 million digital copies in the United States as of 10 April 2011.
#8 Swedish House Mafia – Don’t You Worry Child
“Don’t You Worry Child” is the sixth single released by Swedish house music supergroup Swedish House Mafia, the song features vocals from Swedish singer John Martin. It received a Grammy nomination for Best Dance Recording in the 2013 Grammy Awards.
#7 Yivis – The Fox (what does the fox say?)
“The Fox (What Does the Fox Say?)” is an electronic dance novelty song by Norwegian comedy duo Ylvis. The top trending video of 2013 on YouTube, “The Fox” has received over 958 million views as of September 2020. The song peaked at the top of the Norwegian Singles Chart and was hugely successful in the United States, where it peaked at number six on the Billboard Hot 100 for three consecutive weeks, and was the highest-ranked song by a Norwegian artist on the chart since A-ha’s number-one song “Take On Me” in 1985.
#6 Goyte – Somebody I Used To Know
“Somebody That I Used to Know” is a song written by Belgian-Australian singer-songwriter Gotye, featuring New Zealand singer Kimbra. The song was released in Australia and New Zealand on 5 July 2011. In 2013, the song won two Grammy Awards for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance and Record of the Year. It has topped charts in the US, UK, Australia and New Zealand, as well as 22 other national charts, and reached the top 10 in more than 30 countries around the world.
#4 Elle King – Ex’s & O’s
“Ex’s & Oh’s” is a song recorded by American singer and songwriter Elle King for her debut studio album, Love Stuff (2015). In June 2015, “Ex’s & Oh’s” was certified Gold by Music Canada; it has since been certified double Platinum. “Ex’s & Oh’s” reached the top of the Alternative Songs chart in September 2015, becoming only the second song by a solo female to reach the top since 1996 after Lorde achieved the feat in 2013 with “Royals”. The song also became King’s first and only top-10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 to date.

“Boston” is a song by American rock band Augustana, from their debut album All the Stars and Boulevards (2005). Although this song was not as hugely popular as most songs on this list and only reached #24 on the charts, I have it here because I just love this song and wish it had been even more popular than it was. “Let Her Go” is a song written and recorded by English singer-songwriter Passenger. The song has achieved international success, topping the charts in many countries around the world, and has sold over one million digital copies in the UK, and over four million in the US as of July 2014] In 2014, the song was nominated for the Brit Award for British Single of the Year, and won Passenger the British Academy’s Ivor Novello Award for Most Performed Work.
#2 Magic – Rude
“Rude” is the debut single by Canadian band Magic! “Rude” was an international commercial success amidst mixed reception from music critics. The song peaked at number six on the Canadian Hot 100 and internationally topped the charts in the United States and the United Kingdom and peaked within the top ten of the charts in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Denmark, the Netherlands and Sweden. “Rude” was the ninth best-selling song of 2014, with global sales of 8.6 million units, and won the Juno Award for Single of the Year.

“Best Day of My Life” is a song by American pop rock band American Authors. The song received significant airplay on the radio, it began climbing the various rock charts and became a crossover hit on both alternative rock and top 40 stations, becoming big hits on those formats and peaking at No. 2, No. 18 and No. 4 on the Hot Rock Songs, Alternative Songs, and Mainstream Top 40 charts. It reached No. 1 on the Adult Top 40. The song reached its first million sales mark in the United States in March 2014, and its second million in August 2014. The song was certified 2× Platinum on July 16, 2014. The song was ranked number one on Billboard‘s chart of Adult Pop Songs for 2014. To date, this remains to be the only single by the American Authors to break the top 40 in the United States.
