There is a term for those obsessed fans that do scary things to worship their favorite celebrities – ‘Celebrity Worship Syndrome’.is   This an obsessive addictive disorder in which a person becomes overly involved with the details of a celebrity’s personal and professional life. This can lead to dangerous situations and even death, this syndrome is usually associated with poor mental health.

A Twilight fan named Lauren Adkins married a cardboard cutout of Robert Pattinson in Las Vegas.  She says, “A friend who thought I was going mad said one night: ‘If you love him so much why don’t you marry him?’ Her words rang in my ears. She was right. Why didn’t I?” Her wedding cost her over $3000 but she did not care. She was marrying the man of her dreams.

#9 One Direction Superfan Tattoos

 

50-year old Jayne Bailey mightn’t be the typical age of a One Direction fan, she is old enough to get tattoos which, numbering past 20, are all dedicated to the British boy band. Bailey has exact replicas of Harry Styles’ tattoos — two swallows on his chest — and even exactly copied the arm tattoos of Louis Tomlinson. The British mum also has all of the boys autographs and birthdays tattooed on her forearm.

#8 Miley Cyrus Superfan Tattoos

40-year old Carl McCoid, by 2015, had 29 tattoos all dedicated to Miley Cyrus. McCoid spent more than $5000 on all of the tattoos but vowed last year to have them all removed after Cyrus herself called them “creepy … and really ugly.” The British man even named one of his daughters after the 24-year old pop star but said he now regrets the tattoos saying they have ruined his reputation and love life.

#7 Breaking into Room of Ricky Martin

A diehard fan of Ricky Martin literally broke into the hotel’s vents to get into the Livin’ La Vida Loca singer’s room. “(I was) walking around my room naked and I hear this (noise). I’m like, someone is in this room. They were in the vents. They found a way to get into the ventilation of the room. But you know what, I had to take a picture with them, and (sign) autographs and everything, because really they were … I’m still talking about it.”

In 2015, Jeff and Teresa Greenwood built the labyrinthine tribute outside their house on the family-run Summers Farm for an upcoming annual fall festival. Jeff said that he is not a die-hard fan but has always been amazed by Taylor Swift’s story and thinks she’s amazing. Besides this being over the top and time consuming – it is showcases a ridiculous amount of talent and dedication.

#5 Surgery to Look like Superman

A Filipino man by the name of Herbet Chaves underwent 23 surgeries in an attempt to look like his hero Superman which worked surprisingly well. The 40-year old has been obsessed with the superhero ever since he saw Christopher Reeve star as the cape wearing crusader back in 1978. Chaves spent close to $6000 AUD on his surgeries — equivalent to a small fortune in the Philippines.

The Beyoncé Mass at the Grace Cathedral Church run by Reverend Jude Harmon and Reverend Yolanda Norton gave people the opportunity to worship in a way that would make anyone that was part of the Beyhive ecstatic. And on what people may think of her as a minister who uses pop culture music in the church, Revered Yolanda Norton says, “I am unapologetically a minister of the Gospel, I am unapologetically a biblical scholar, and I am unapologetically a Beyoncé fan—and I don’t feel like I need to apologise for any of that.”

In 2013 Jared Leto received a gift that was rather unusual – an ear. And if that was not creepy enough the ear came with a note that said “Are you listening?”  The singer later revealed on a British radio station Xfm that he poked holes into the ear and turned it into a necklace.

An obsessed fan of Paula Abdul took her own life just a few doors away from the American Idol judge’s Hollywood residence in 2008. The woman, named Paula Goodspeed (she changed her name to Paula at 16), overdosed on pills while sitting in her car not long after a humiliating audition on Idol where she declared her love for the singer. Abdul later said she was still deeply affected by the death and was furious at the show’s producers for letting the fan audition. “I told them, ‘this girl is a stalker of mine. Please do not let her in.’ Everyone knew. I was shaking.”

#1 Surgery to Look like Justin Bieber

Tobias Strebel was a mega fan of Justin Bieber, so much so he spent close to $100,000 on plastic surgery to look like the Sorry singer. The surgeries were spread out over a period of more than five years and included a smile surgery with a month recovery time as well as an eyelid surgery that left him unable to open his eyes for a week. The 35-year called Justin “just extraordinarily beautiful.” Strebel tragically passed away in 2015 after his body was discovered in a Los Angeles hotel room.
