Top 10 Naked Events Around the World

Some people prefer to cover up but a lot of people rather prefer to do activities without the constraints of clothing. All around the world there are events organized where these people can get together either just for the fun, to promote a cause or to commemorative an important event. Here is a list of the those events.

#10 Running of the Nudes – Spain

The Running of the Nudes takes place in Pamplona, Spain. The Running of the Nudes occurs two days before the Running of the Bulls, just before the start of the nine-day festival of San Fermín. The event was created in 2002 and is supported by animal welfare groups, including PETA, who object to the Running of the Bulls, claiming that the event is cruel and glorifies bullfighting, which the groups oppose. In the Running of the Nudes, naked humans, many wearing only plastic horns and red scarves, follow the same route taken by the Running of the Bulls, from the Santo Domingo corrals through the town’s streets, ending at the Plaza de Toros.

#9 World Body Painting Festival – Austria

The World Bodypainting Festival was created in 1998 by Alex Barendregt. The event is held every year in July in Pörtschach, Austria and has become the Center of Bodypainting. It draws the best body painting artist from over 40 countries and models, as well as tens of thousands of visitors, from all over the world.  Body painting is not simply painting a body, body painting is to replant the body into an entire scenery, to create a body scene with choreography and music.

#8 Naked Sledding World Championships – Germany

The Naked Sledding World Championship is an annual event that traditionally takes place in Braunlage, Germany; but due to warm spring weather and an absence of snow, the 2014 event had to be moved to the Magdeburg-Cochstedt Airport, Hecklingberg. The Championship take place in February with a total of 44 contestants representing over 15 different countries taking part; including the UK, Germany, Holland, Nigeria, Slovakia and Switzerland. The contestants have to strip down to their pants, a helmet and boots before sledding down an 50m hill to try to be the first over the finish line. There are two winners, one male and one female.

#7 Oblation Run, Philippines

The Oblation Run is an annual event held by several Filipino chapters of Alpha Phi Omega (APO) in different universities in the Philippines. The event first organized in 1977 and is usually held on December 16, in honor of the international founding of Alpha Phi Omega on December 16, 1925. Along with the practice of running bare and naked, members of the APO fraternity traditionally make it a point to use the activity to air out a cause or make a statement regarding a burning issue each year. The participants are naked but wear masks or face paintings.

#6 The Naked European Championships – Germany

Female players show off their ball skills at the 2013 first ever naked European Championships. Teams from across the Continent gathered and got their kit off at the tournament in Germany. Teams from Italy, France, Sweden and Germany tussled in the buff on the astroturf at Berlin’s Palais am Funkturm. As far as tactics go, most sides unsurprisingly opted to play with two up front – although there did seem to be more than the usual number of strikers. Some sides opted to keep their, team shorts on while kit for others consisted only of socks in team colors.

#5 Wreck Beach Bare Buns Fun Run – Canada

Wreck Beach is an internationally-acclaimed 7.8 km long clothing-optional beach, located in Vancouver, BC, Canada, making it North America’s largest naturist beach. Each year the Wreck Beach Bare Buns Fun Run takes place. This is a 5k run along the Wreck Beach Tidal flats at low tide and is an all ages event. The run is designed to raise awareness about naturism and funds for the Wreck Beach Preservation Society, which advocates keeping the beach in as natural and clean a state as possible.

#4 World Naked Gardening Day – Worldwide

The World Naked Gardening Day (WNGD) is an annual event worldwide event that is celebrated in May. It celebrates weeding, planting flowers and trimming hedges in the nude. WNGD was founded and is organized by Mark Storey, editor-at-large at Nude & Natural naturist magazine and permaculturalist Jacob Gabriel, as a project of Body Freedom Collaborative. The first annual World Naked Gardening Day event took place in 2005 and is now held every year on the first Saturday in May.  While the event is most often done in secluded areas, such as at home, some cities do schedule events such as in public parks.

#3 World Naked Hiking Day – Worldwide

The Naked Hiking Day is typically observed on the first day of summer each year. There is a nakedhiking  USA site where organizers can post events for this day. A lot of events are organized by nudist communities, while others just want to enjoy nature in the nude. Nude participants should not only be careful about insects, scrapes and thorns, but they also have to be aware of rangers and police. Rangers and police have warned that people caught outdoors in the altogether could be charged with indecent exposure.

#2 Nude Games – Australia

The Pilwarren Maslin Beach Nude Games – formally known as the Maslin Beach Nudo Lympics – features favourites such as the three-legged race, frisbee competition and Miss Maslin Beach. The event changed its name last year after the Australian Olympic Committee warned organisers against using the previous name. The event had used the Nudo Lympics name since it started in the 1980s. It was cancelled for five years after 2007 because the Southern United Naturists, which started the annual event in 1983, could not find enough sponsors. Its return in January 2013 saw hundreds of people attend.

 #1 The World Naked Bike Ride – Worldwide

The World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) is a clothing optional bike ride where participants ride together to “deliver a vision of a cleaner, safer, body-positive world.” Full or partial nudity is encouraged but not mandatory. In 2003 Conrad Schmidt conceived the World Naked Bike Ride after organizing the Naked Bike Rides of the group Artists for Peace/Artists Against War. The Naked Bike Ride takes place in March in the Northern Hemisphere and June in the Southern Hemisphere with 75 cities participating in 20 countries.
